Advice for the Seasons: Autumn

Autumn is a season of shedding and slowing down. When we look at this from a holistic stand point, it shines a lot of light on what many of you may be experiencing.

First of all, it is natural for us to want more sleep, eat comfort foods, and contemplate our lives and past experiences. In the days before electricity, we would've been eating the last of the fresh harvested produce, warming ourselves around the fire in the evenings telling stories, and heading to bed earlier. But in today's society, the opposite has happened. The kids' activities are keeping families running non-stop, Halloween plugs us full of candy, and we're gearing up for the holiday rush.

DON'T GET TAKEN DOWN BY TURKEY DAY!!!

I know it's easy to get caught up in the rush, but all this leads to is throwing your back out on Thanksgiving, fatigue, post holiday flus, colds, and what many people consider depression (when it's really just adrenal burnout!).  So as the holiday season gets going, I highly encourage you to make your chiropractic adjusments a priority to keep your nervous system in tune, get plenty of rest, eat extra healthy when you're not at parties so you can get away with a little celebratory sugar and alcohol, and plan to do a mild cleanse in January to get back on track (I love our 10 day Blood Sugar Balancing program). A little homeopathic cocktail of ER 911, Earth, and Flu/immune couldn't hurt either on a weekly basis as well as Day/Night vitals on a daily basis. Do your best to stick to our primal schedule of an earlier bed time (when possible) and more storytelling and sharing time with your family. Make rest and relaxation a priority, and feel free to turn down some invitations. Your body and psyche will thank you come January.

Have a happy, healthy holiday!!
