Lots of people claim that the gluten free craze is just another fad that will die out soon like so many other diets, but for those of us who suffer when we eat gluten, we can't imagine any other existence at this point. But I often find myself wondering, why now? Why so many people sensitive to gluten? What has happened?
And then a new patient walked into my office with a severe gut disturbance that resulting from eating Splenda routinely years ago. He has never been the same. So I started googling and I came across this. Now, I can't say that gluten sensitivity is caused by Splenda consumption, but I find it a curious connection and something to consider. In any case, I highly recommend avoiding Splenda. If you want something sweet, try fruit, coconut palm sugar, or maple syrup.
