A patient walked into my office today and announced that something felt a little "off." I asked him to explain.
The disruption began with a car "incident." Something diverted his attention from the road while driving and he ended up going through a ditch and narrowly missing a telephone pole before managing to get his car back on the road unscathed. He was thankful that he and his car were ok, but there was something nagging at him the rest of the day. As an NET practitioner, I was as curious as he was to get to the bottom of it so I had him picture his "off-roading" event.
There was definitely an emotional charge with the liver meridian involved and the emotion that the body resonated with turned out to be "depressed." (In the NET world, depressed isn't usually a synonym for depression, but more a term that describes feeling pushed down or inhibited in life.) I asked if that meant anything to him and quickly he responded that he didn't know if it was correlated, but lately, he's been wondering if he's on the right path in life.
Through testing, we found that this was, in fact, the emotional pattern that had been triggered by the incident. It was left unresolved while observing his mother as a child, sensing her own inner debate of where she should be spending her energy: being the stay-at-home mom she felt called to be, or working outside the home.
I was struck by how clever his unconscious mind was... encouraging him to explore his feelings by making him quite literally carve a new path other than the one he was driving on... resulting in what was not necessarily an all-out storm, but more of a light cloud coverage of contemplation. It was this resulting contemplation that allowed us to bring these feelings and patterns to light and reprogram them...
Many, if not all of us, have had these moments where we question our direction. We wonder if we're doing the right things, making the right decisions, or whether we should have done something different. We have fears about the future... but using NET, we can help bring these feelings to a state of neutrality, allowing us to move forward and take action. We can stop them from overwhelming us, from hijacking our thoughts, and from keeping us frozen in fear or indecision.
What's holding YOU back?
Yours in health,
Dr. Redmond
