When you have no one else to love, love yourself.

Sorry for the unexpected absence... I've been experiencing some computer issues on my end but I'm back!

"When you have no one else to love, love yourself." It's a piece of advice that one of my teachers gave our class in Chiropractic school, and quite appropriate to remember on Valentine's day. Now, the truth of the matter stands firm that there really is never a moment when we have no one else to love, but when it feels that way, the best thing we can do is focus on loving ourselves... give ourselves what we need to feel nurtured, loved, accepted, secure, and protected. Whether that's a quiet night at home to lick the wounds of the long-gone or not-so-distant past, or a night out with friends or family. Sometimes, it means giving ourselves those things we've been deprived of, like going to get a massage or taking time to read that book that's been tempting us from the bedside table... Or treating ourselves to a delicious, nourishing meal, for no other reason besides our being worth it. There are so many ways to give yourself the love and attention we need... A quiet moment with a cup of tea, a hot bath, watching a great movie, talking to a friend.... And this type of nurturing should happen whether you're in a relationship or not. What's your favorite way to nurture yourself?
